HELP FOR PEOPLE WHO LIVE OUTSIDE THE LOS ANGELES AREA
If you have been unable to find a trainer in your area , we offer a phone consultation service which may help you to handle certain problems yourself. Sometimes, just having someone hold your hand and walk you through a process is enough to give you the confidence to do it on your own.
In some cases, it's just a matter of using the appropriate tools. The right collar and leash can make a huge difference in how you are able to manage your dog.
At times, just having someone help you identify the meaning of dog body language can suddenly bring you a new understanding of what's going on. That knowledge can make it obvious why techniques you've tried haven't worked.
Processes like potty training are best dealt with verbally anyway. Having a trainer come to your home for this is frequently a waste of time when all you need to know is how to set things up and how to deal with accidents.
Books are wonderful teachers and we enthusiastically suggest you avail yourself of everything you can get hold of to learn a variety of ways to approach any problem. The drawback of the written word is that it's not interactive. If you have a "yes, but..." question, you're kind of stuck. Being able to ask questions and get clarification is invaluable.
Please be advised that we do not include advice with aggression issues in our Outreach Program. Even experienced trainers get badly bitten. We really really don't want you to get hurt! This does not mean you should despair if your situation concerns aggression. There are many options for improving a dog who bites or threatens to bite. We will be happy to direct you to resources which may be able to help you.
Situations / Problems which lend themselves well to our Outreach Program include, but are not limited to the following:
Basic obedience Leash pulling Potty training Chewing Jumping Puppy "biting" or "mouthing" Introducing a new dog to your home Lunging at other dogs on leash
